This one has just been waiting to come out. First of all, this being asked by someone that does NOT smoke it. Why do people still claim that it is bad? The best evidence that I’ve heard of is that it impairs your ability to drive. Some years ago there was a commercial that claimed that 3 of 4 car accidents the driver was tested positive for marijuana. Probably true, but no one ever took the time to do the math… about 60-70% of Americans use marijuana (2005), therefore they cancel each other out (assuming that it is closer to 70%) and my personal opinion that the results given in that commercial were exaggerated anyway. Not that it’s okay to drive under the influence of anything, I don’t think it’s okay to drive after taking cough/cold medicine unless you already know how it effects you. Marijuana has been commonly referred to as harmful and bad yet I have never once seen any solid proof of this. Even the evidence lacks on these accusations. It humors me that the only people that claim that it’s bad are the ones that have never used it. I smoked marijuana for the first time at age 13, I continued to use it often until the age of 17. I am now 22 and I can say in no way do I regret using it, i’m not addicted to any drugs of any kind, nobody died, nobody got hurt, I am very successful in every way I set out to be. If nothing ever bad came from it then why did I stop using it you ask? Simply because I lost interest in it, just like a TV show, a video game, or even a girlfriend. What makes marijuana different from other illegal drugs? Nobody claims those drugs are good, not even the people doing them.

I hope anyone on the fence about this subject has joined the 60-70% of other Americans that embrace the same logic I do. And in no way am I encouraging anyone to smoke marijuana, that is a choice only ones self should make. If you do choose to smoke it, remember that it is illegal (United States) and there are penalties even if they aren’t fair to your rights. So now I will give all the protesters of this topic a chance to be heard. Does anyone have any solid proof that marijuana is in fact harmful?
