I have an 84 Trans am with a 350 or 305, not sure, I bought it a few months ago and havn’t taken the time to put it on the lift and check. It has a non-electric carburetor and racing cam. I run 50 weight in it because it burns through oil. I also put fuel injector cleaner and additives in it occasionally and use higher octane gas. When starting the car I have to have my foot on the gas and keep it on the gas for about 2 minutes before it will stay idled. And if I don’t let it idle for at least 5-10 minutes depending on the temperature, it runs funny. I can’t give it much gas at all, if I do the engine will bog down and stall. After driving for 10 minutes the thing runs perfect. The T/A is a 5-speed. The engine was recently put it in, im not sure how old it is. I know that with old carb engines they will do this if not garaged, but not to this extent. I’ve never drivin a car that was this bad in this way. Any suggestions on things to check or adjust? Thanks.
