ARTIST: Sharon Jones
- 4 albums with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings

GENRE: Funk, Soul, classic R&B, Jazz

FACTOIDS:
- She was born in Georgia but raised in NYC.
- She is 54 years old.
- For some reason, this tickled me - she worked as both a corrections officer and an armored car guard.
- According to Last.fm, the band “shuns modern digital recording methods in favour of using traditional analogue recording equipment to capture the essence of funk/soul music as it was in the mid-60s to mid70s.”

HOW I FOUND HER: Can’t remember, sometime last month I wanna say.

ALBUM I RECOMMEND FIRST: Take your pick. ‘I Learned The Hard Way’ is what got me into them, if that makes any difference.

Feel free to listen to all four, or pick the one that looks best! Whatcha think?

David: Yeah! I was looking at some of their shows on Youtube thinking “Man, that looks awesome”. I checked their tour dates and wouldn’t you know it, they played in Atlanta with Cyndi Lauper at the beginning of the month. Phooey.
