Hi :)
I’m thinking of starting a project and build my own race car. I’m jumping in this head first with no experience whatsoever ..

I thought I’d go with a junkyard-save kind of thing, since you can do wonders under very small budgets, and also because when you start with something like that, you work on so many things, and so it gets very educational.

Basically, the idea is to get a V8 in a RWD Chassis that doesn’t weigh much, spend some money on some good performance brakes, suspension, and wheels+tyres. Preferably something old/classic, coz those tend to be dirt-cheap and have better aesthetic appeal. So after a couple of visits to the scrapyard, my mind was set on fitting a 1979 RX30 Cressida with a 1UZ-FE V8 from a 1995 Lexus LS400, along with it’s original Transmission and Drivetrain (Driveshaft and Differential), since any other choice of Drivetrains would require major modifications, which with my modest level of expertise, is not really applicable.

The good thing is, the whole car (without the brakes, wheels, and suspension) will cost me less than $3000 (that includes body work/restoration, Engine+accessories, Drive train), which is peanuts money really. The problem though, lies in the ECU ..

If I’m going to remove Traction Control, Cruise Control, modify or customize some Manifold (so it fits in the engine bay - which I’m not yet sure is a problem), and add some Paddle-Shifting Transmission Control amongst other changes … The original ECU probably won’t be functioning anymore. At least not in a useful way .. Or so I was lead to believe. And so the question is: are there any after market solutions .. ? Or am I wrong and the original ECU should still serve fine .. ? Or maybe with a few modifications that anyone can perform (which I high doubt my region has) .. ? Or should I just back off and find something simpler that I can deal with .. ?

Tremendous apologies on my lengthy Q, and the poor English you had to soldier through, and if you think you can contribute more to my project could you please check my other enquiries here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao6.2S1Zw1EwWlEk98rOOC_ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100819165024AAKyIpz

And Many Many Thanks in Advance :)

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The federal Cash for Clunkers program is on its last mile, and while some dealers cashed in on the final weekend, others were content to put the breaks on the initiative. Dealerships like Rich Ford continue to offer the federal …

Hi people, I am planning on buying this car in black color, the paint looks nice and glossy, but i was wondering, do you think this would look good? I am 20 years old and want a car, i can buy a newer car but this one too me looks pretty cool, and so people :) be honest with me, what would you think of someone driving this car? and should I buy it? 10 points to the most truthful and convincing answer on why and why i should not buy this car, negative and positive answers will be treated alike, i dont want to drive something people of america would shun, and I do want to drive a nice looking car :) thank you for your time
hey thanks, i like your answer a lot, very informative, hey I have the money to fix any damages, i dont care for the people who think they know cars, but if chicks arent gonna like my ride then it would kinda suck lol, what do you think on girls with these type of cars, it looks nice and glossy black form the outside, the rims are also nice, i will await your input bud :)

Hello I am 17 in december and am looking to insure A classic Austin Mini 998cc and I was just wondering if anyone would have any estimate idea of how much it would cost to insure!? :)

Resolved Question: what is this PS2 classic game?

sorry for poor details, its been awhile
it was a sequal to another game and you somehow transported to a world where these like futuristic police controled a city where hover cars drove around and it was an open world and i think you had a sidekick like ratchet and clank, and one mission you had to get a flag on a mountain?

I need weather stripping and a gas pedal for a 1962 Rambler Classic 2 door. Where can I find someone that sells this. I also would like to find a website that shows a cross reference for this car to other makes and models. Does such a thing exist?

Voting Question: Jeep Cherokee vs Wrangler?

I have a 1990 wrangler that is all sorts of bouncy and rattles all the time.
Im thinking of getting a 1996-98 jeep cherokee.. not Grand Cherokee. The classic Jeep Cherokee

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these cars.
What are your opinions and what year do you think is the best for the Cherokee.

Thanks!
OlllllllO

In fall 1994,Ford Contour was introduced in the United States. It was the same as the basic mid sized car whichit introduced in Europe Under the name “Mondeo” In 1993.It took 6 years at a cost of $6 billion-twice what Ford spent to develop it’s very successful Taurus.According to Ford consumer tastes and preferences had converged sufficiently and so a single car would find a lot’s of buyers everywhere just as one menu is working around the world for McDonald’s.Building a world car was a very ambitious undertaking and in the past only Volkswagen’s classic Beetle and Toyota’s Corolla have come close to succeeding.

Ford chose to change the front and rear styling and make slight changes in the U.S version of the car.Still, the European and American versions have 75% of their parts in common.Earlier Ford had made an attempt to build a common car for Europe and United States, “The Escort” which
resulted in one of the grandest corporate foul up’s ever. Many experts believed that a common car for the world market violated the basic marketing wisdom of the 1990’s to get closer to the customers.

Ford, however was confident that consumer tastes had converged sufficiently during the previous decade so as to ensure the success of it’s world car.As it turned out Ford’s Mondeo-Contour-Mystique was not very successful.Undiscouraged, Ford abolished it’s regional Components and turned itself into a world company that made global cars.Ford spent $2 billion to develop it’s new world car, The Focus, which it introduced in Europe in 1998 and In the U.S in 1999.However, this was also not successful as consumer tastes had shifted towards sport wagons.

Q)ANALYZE THE ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS OF THIS CASE ?

hey :), i just wondered i’m heart set on getting a chevelle 69 or 75 when i’m older to afford one lol but just wanted to know if people still saw them as good cars? because i know a lot of guys know days are always talking about cars such as Ferrari’s, Porsche’s etc but i’m just not really feeling like a vibe from any of modern cars lol when i first saw the classic chevelle 69 i thought it looked amazing and would be an incredible experience to drive :) and also i’m an studying art and design in college and when i saw it i thought it was a piece of art in it’s own right lol, so what does everyone think? would you say a chevelle 69 to 75 is still a great car to have in the modern day 2011?, thank you :)
